?El Clasico.
The fixture that football fans around the world unite in to glue their eyes towards.
Over the years it has had drama, passion, two of the world’s greatest ever players regularly partaking in it, and more often than not, football of the highest order with goals galore.
?Real Madrid and ?Barcelona have been the top two sides in La Liga for sometime, however, they do say the form book goes out of the window for derby clashes, right? Well, having not beaten La Blaugrana in the league in their last six attempts, during which time ?La Liga has been won twice by
Either way it was sure to be an engrossing clash at Camp Nou, with both sides level pegging atop the division heading into Wednesday night’s clash.
So, who was going to start for either side? How were the teams going to setup? And…more importantly, was a golfer going to get the nod over youth?
You betcha.
??
??One fan called for a specific routine if ?Gareth Bale scored.
What’s the point of starting Bale if he doesn’t do the golf celebration?

??Which way this one would go was anyone’s guess (although you’d have backed Barca, be honest), but the visitors were looking solid in the early stages. Composed, assured and, dare I say, on top.
Real Madrid looking good for an opening goal here. Barca under immense pressure, hardly have a touch

??
??Gerard Pique was the hero for the hosts, clearing off the line from Karim Benzema with the visitors looking the more likely to grab the opener.
??
Then, finally for Ernesto Valverde’s men, a chance of note. This time it was Sergio Ramos – making a record breaking 43rd El Clasico appearance – to hook Lionel Messi’s effort away from goal at the last opportunity.
The game was on tenterhooks, yet still it was Zidane’s men who were dominating proceedings heading into the break.
What could Barcelona do differently after the restart? The game was mostly played in their half, something onlookers at Camp Nou rarely ever see.
Engrossing stuff.
3 ? cards for Barca in the first half and the clasico still stands 0-0 at half time! I’m expecting more stability in the midfield from Barca. Real dominating through set pieces? what do you guys think about the final score? #ElClasico #barcareal #Barcelona

Half time at Camp Nou. Madrid clearly the better side. I have no idea where our midfield is. Pique is crucial. Roberto is great. Messi is Messi. FDJ is decent. And the rest need to step up the game. It’s going to be a tough night but I hope we can pull it off!! @FCBarcelona ??

??Thing was, nothing really changed.
An impressive Los Blancos continue their impressive showing into the final stretch, seeing plenty of the ball and starving their opponents of possession in dangerous areas. The midfield was strong, the defence too. This was some top drawer stuff from Madrid.
??
So far the second half have been the same. This is Madrid’s game

A short break in play occurred because of, well, yellow balls.
A publicity stunt with strong political roots was the reason for it. But we won’t get into that. This is El Clasico, after all.
Mr. Maligned himself then had a wonderful chance to silence his (rather large) group of haters, only to blast wide of the post
Bale I don’t support you in times of crisis for you to waste a chance like that.

Bale with a great chance
Hits the side netting

— Ronaldoo ? (@RealMadridRM13) December 18, 2019
??The did find the back of the net….
GOAL!!
AND GARETH BALE OF ALL PEOPLE!
HE’S ACTUALLY…..oh wait, nvm.
??
??
??Ramos then got his customary yellow card.
Ramos yellow card
This was going to happen ?????— Shruti (@madridistashru) December 18, 2019
??Ansu Fati came on late, in turn breaking (more) records.
But was he to snatch a late winner?
No, unfortunately.
This was the first El Clasico to finish goalless since 2002, seventeen years ago,
People weren’t best pleased….
That was the most dogshit el Clasico I’ve watched to date. Holy shit what a waste of 2 hours.

Rubbbbbbbbishhhhh, complete rubbish. What a waste of my time. Why didn’t Madrid win this match? #ElClasico

??Some people found other highlights.
The #ElClasico has been terrible. But my highlight has been the American commentator on my stream pretending to be a car
— Elliot Hackney (@ElliotHackney) December 18, 2019
??While some praised Madrid for a fine showing.
Madrid the better team tonight. And Bale was excellent.
Barcelona were shit all through.— Count Olaf (@lexisrenis) December 18, 2019

— Bats (@bateelkhraino) December 18, 2019
??One user made a bizarre claim…
The match was played in Camp Nou, Barcelona’s home. Real Madrid played very well. The best #elClasico I watched in many years. #HalaMadrid

??Yeah, I wouldn’t go that far mate.
Anyway, we await the next one, right?
