Tottenham Hotspur Have No Intention of Allowing Record-Signing Tanguy Ndombele to Leave Club

Tottenham Hotspur are not interested in entertaining offers for Tanguy Ndombele this summer, despite the club’s record signing struggling to adapt to the demands of the Premier League during his debut season in England.

The Frenchman joined the North London side from Lyon for a record fee of around £60m, but after showing some early promise, the midfielder then suffered a string of injuries and failed to fully recapture his form throughout the campaign.

Coach Jose Mourinho publicly lost his patience with Ndombele on a number of occasions, accusing the 23-year-old of lacking committed towards getting back to full fitness. The stage seemed set for Spurs to cut their losses on their superstar, with a move away becoming more likely as the weeks went by.

But these rumours have seemingly been put to bed, as The Independent reports that Tottenham have no intention of letting Ndombele go this summer, despite supposedly attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and former club Lyon.

And while some may have thought Mourinho would be prepared to wash his hands of the big-money signing, the last few weeks have proved that the Portuguese boss has not given up on his midfielder just yet.

The Spurs coach controversially held a one-on-one training session with Ndombele in a public park, despite the entire country being placed in lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. Mourinho seems determined to get the best out of Spurs’ star midfielder, and all eyes will be on the duo’s relationship should the Premier League return in the near future.

Ndombele himself also appears to be committed to the cause, posting a video of this season’s Spurs highlights on his Instagram page, along with the caption ‘nothing to report.’

The North London club will need their record signing at his very best if they hope to gain Champions League football for next season, as they currently sit in eighth place, seven points behind fourth place Chelsea.
