Samuel Umtiti Reveals He’d Like to Return to Former Club Lyon & Picks His Ideal 5-a-Side Team

?Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has revealed he would like to return to former club Lyon as either a player or a coach one day.

Umtiti has been the subject of various transfer rumours over the last few years, with Premier League sides Manchester United and Arsenal often credited with interest in the France international.

Injury problems have affected his position at Barcelona in recent seasons, with Clement Lenglet playing plenty of games in Umtiti’s absence, and the World Cup winner has now hinted at a potential future transfer by admitting he would like to return to Lyon one day, also revealing his ambition to become a coach.

He told Team Orange Football, as quoted by ?Sport: “I’d like to be a coach. I take notes from those I’ve worked under, their training sessions and what they do. Returning to Lyon is a possibility, as a player or as a coach.”

Umtiti has previously rubbished rumours of a Camp Nou departure. Regarding the Arsenal rumour, he ?said: “Honestly, I don’t know where this rumour with Arsenal came from.

“Overnight, I received messages from my friends ‘ah, so you are joining Arsenal?’ I’m not, I’m sorry but I’m staying at Barcelona.

“Contacts with Arsenal? To be honest, I don’t know if they had conversations with my agent, I just told him that I didn’t care what was happening this summer and that it wasn’t even necessary to talk to me about it.”

Umtiti also revealed his ideal five-a-side team and, needless to say, it’s a pretty good one, made up of stars he has played alongside during his career.

He added: “Messi, because with just him that’s enough. Ter Stegen is very good and he would be in my team alongside ?Messi, myself, Lacazette and Iniesta.”

Umtiti played in ?Barcelona‘s 2-1 success at Leganes on Saturday but could be rested on Wednesday for the ?Champions League clash with ?Borussia Dortmund.
