?Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué has hit out at Real Madrid after Los Blancos emerged from Sunday’s Clásico with a 2-0 win, calling them one of the worst Real sides he has ever faced.
After an admittedly slow start, Real finally netted the opening goal in the 71st minute through Vinícius before Mariano bagged a second in stoppage time to steer Real to a memorable victory.
Losing to their fierce rivals is tough to take for ?Barcelona. However, ?Piqué certainly was not prepared to go down honourably, telling reporters (via ?Marca) that Zinedine Zidane’s side have arguably never been worse.
“We are upset,” he said. “We thought we could get a good result here because Madrid came into the game in bad shape. It was one of the worst Madrid sides I’ve faced at the Bernabéu in the first half.
“I don’t say that as a criticism of them. We all have problems – we aren’t doing that well, either. But we missed an opportunity. We had control of the game and if we take advantage of a couple of our chances it leaves them with a mountain to claim.”
Well, it sounds like somebody’s a little bitter.
However, ?Real defender ?Sergio Ramos took it well, as ever, hitting back at his fellow Spaniard by reminding him (via ?AS) who won the game.
“Everyone’s opinion is respectable,” he began. “I’ll happily win every El Clásico with a first half as bad as he says.
It was an enormous result for Real. After a string of poor results, they managed to take three points from their rivals and keep their ?La Liga title challenge alive – going top, one point ahead of their Catalan rivals.
