?Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann claims that he’s still struggling to learn how to play alongside Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Ousmane Dembélé following his summer move from Atlético Madrid.
The 28-year-old has made 16 appearances across all competitions since his £108m move to the Camp Nou, scoring four goals and also picking up three assists, with Barcelona sitting top of La Liga as well as Group F in the Champions League.
Although Griezmann’s already put in some impressive performances his arrival from Atlético Madrid – notably during the club’s 3-0 win against Eibar – the France international insists he’s still struggling to understand some of his teammates on the pitch.
“I still don’t understand Messi, Suárez and Dembélé’s movements,” Griezmann told Radio Montecarlo (via Sport). “Sometimes it’s tough. You don’t have have the confidence with the ball and that leads to mistakes when you shoot or play a pass.”
In a separate interview with Kicker, Griezmann stressed that he would need more time to fully adapt to life at Barcelona and form a better partnership with the club’s best players.
“I love the Barça style, which is totally in line with my vision of football. I don’t feel the pressure. If we play with enthusiasm, we will reach our objectives and win trophies this season.
“I arrived in the summer, the season is long and I have the necessary to time to refine my automatisms with my teammates and better dominate the elements of Barça’s philosophy.
“When I arrived, I was well received by the whole dressing room. Every day I work hard to perfect my game, to be even better and to find my place with the objective of becoming a really important part of the team. Evolving alongside such great players is a genuine pleasure and inspires me.”
Griezmann will have the chance to score his first goal for Barcelona in the Champions League when they host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.
BVB are coming into the match off the back of an embarrassing draw at home to promoted side Paderborn, but Lucien Favre’s team can still move top of Group F if they can cause an upset in Catalonia.
